  • CDSS offers classes for infants as young as six months old, though some might start at a different age. At the age of 3, it will depend on the child's developmental readiness.

  • Generally, children should wear a swimsuit, and swim diapers if they are not potty-trained. CDSS also recommends swim caps and goggles, though these may not be necessary for the Beginner levels.

  • This can vary, but here at CDSS, we aim for a low student-to-teacher ratio to ensure that each child gets adequate attention. Ratios can range from 1:3 to 1:7 in our Learn to Swim and Junior Development program and 1:8 to 1:12 in our Junior Squad program.

  • Lessons in our Learn to Swim and Junior Development Programs last for 30 minutes, and in our Junior Squad Program it ranges from 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes.

  • Policies on make-up classes are listed in our Terms and Conditions.  Here at CDSS, we offer 1 make-up lesson per term if your child is ill and you have given at least 30 minutes notice before their lesson.

  • Here at CDSS, we have an assessment process that we follow for new potential students. Our Assessor will evaluate new students to place them in the appropriate class level. Please contact the swim school via email for more information on setting up an assessment for your child.

  • At CDSS, we take pride in the qualifications and experience of our instructors. All our teachers are certified through AUSTSWIM,  Swim Australian or Royal Lifesaving, hold current CPR certification, and possess a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC). Each instructor brings extensive experience in teaching children of all ages and skill levels.

  • Registration procedures vary depending on if you are a new or returning student. Please fill out the inquiry form and we will get back to you. Some classes may have waitlists, especially during peak times, so early registration is recommended.

  • At CDSS, we invite all parents to observe their children's swim lessons. We ask that you refrain from using mobile devices during this time so you can fully focus on your child's progress. Your presence not only allows you to witness their development firsthand but also helps us ensure the safety and well-being of all our students.
